03. About the street furniture

  • The street furniture is made from high-quality, recyclable components including high-resistance tempered and laminated glass and stainless steel. The structures are free from pollutants and are 95 percent recyclable.
  • All shelters, automatic public toilets, and newsstands will have posted identification numbers, and the public may dial 311 to report any trouble or maintenance concerns.

Bus Shelters

  • The bus shelters are made of transparent laminated and impact-resistant tempered glass, which provides excellent visibility and protection with no blind spots.
  • If desired by the local community, the bus shelters may provide bench seating.
  • Each bus shelter is designed to display the name of the bus stop in prominent letters that can be read by approaching bus passengers.
  • Lighting in the bus shelters enhances design, adds security, and allows passengers to read as they wait for the bus.

Newsstands

  • The newsstands will provide customized and efficient interior fittings for the operator and will include indoor lighting, shelving and storage compartments, and several electrical outlets which can be used for refrigerators, Lotto terminals, and/or air conditioning and heating units.

Automatic Public Toilets

  • The automatic public toilets (APTs) are accessible, well-lit and well-ventilated and have air conditioning/heating, hot water, liquid soap, and hot air for drying hands.
  • The APTs are constructed of high-quality, vandalism-resistant materials and are equipped with indoor lighting, smoke alarms, fire alarms, and emergency buttons that connect immediately with emergency personnel. The units can be opened from either the inside or outside in the event of an emergency, and the occupancy detectors prevent unauthorized operations and entrances.
  • Each APT has an automatic cleaning and disinfection system that cleans the toilet bowl and floor after each use.
